Selecting the right set of tyres for your Car, SUV, Van, Ute, 4x4

When you are looking for new tyres for your car, SUV, 4×4 or work van or ute, then it is imperative to ensure that you select the right tyre that suits what you drive, where you drive the style of driving and the purpose of the vehicle you are fitting tyres too.

Most manufacturers will often have recommendations in the manual for the best tyres for that vehicle.  Generally, they give the guide to size of the rims, width of the tyres that are suitable for that particular model.  There are times when you may choose to change the tyre sizes and with this I recommend that you speak to someone prior to making this decision as there are laws and standards that are needed to be abided by.  So before you choose something from the internet or somewhere I would speak to a reputable tyre dealer such as Australian Auto Care, or another authorised tyre dealer.

To find out more about the tyres that are recommended for your vehicle, have a read of the owner’s manual or contact your authorised dealer to find out.  This way, you will find out the recommended tyres allowed for your vehicle, they will describe the size, speed rating and load rating suitable for your vehicle. This is what you will need to know when shopping for new tyres for your car, Ute, SUV, 4×4 or work van.

Wheel Alignment Lonsdale

What is a Wheel Alignment and Why Should We get one?

A Wheel alignment is where adjustments of a vehicle’s suspension are made to manage the direction and angle of the tyre’s contact with the road. The best wheel alignment for each vehicle, make and model is calculated by the manufacturer in order to provide the best performance and handling for that specific vehicle. The alignment can also affect the safety of the tyre and the vehicle, and how the tyres will wear, that is why it is an important factor of your vehicle servicing and should be included at regular times during your routine Logbook services.

A wheel alignment is extremely important in the driving and the safety of your vehicle. Apart from the safety and vehicle’s control, maintaining the vehicles true alignment can also extend the life of your tyres and decrease wear – this will give you the greatest “value for money” out of your tyres, as well as aiding your fuel consumption. Having the wheel alignment done regularly, improves the vehicles’ ability to stay on the road safely and improves the overall handling and steering making for a much more enjoyable drive for all.

Best Wheel Balancing in Lonsdale

Wheel Balancing.
Why do we need to?

Wheel balancing is important because the more you drive and over time the wheels will go out of balance due to circumstances out of your control. Factors affecting the weight allocation of your vehicle, road conditions and tyre wear and tear, can cause irregularities in the tyres, which can then lead to further irregular tyre wear. As a result, the vehicle might begin to get a shudder through the steering wheel at certain speeds, or all the time, which is not good at all.

When a tyre technician balances the wheels, this is generally done on a wheel balancing machine.  The wheel is locked on to the balancer and spins to show any unevenness on the wheel. Any existing unevenness is corrected by applying weights to the inside of the rim (generally) to offset the weight distribution to even out the balance of the entire rim. Wheel balancing is generally completed when wheels are rotted or new tyres are put on.  At time there may be a requirement when there is vibrating through the wheel over time due to changes in the tyre, or other factors that may arise.

Wheel alignments and wheel balancing are a very important factor of a vehicle’s operation.  This includes the safety of the vehicle and effective function of your vehicle, including conditions that can vary and cause change to the stability of the vehicle, such as road surfaces and conditions, weather and driving circumstances.  This will also ensure that you get the best mileage out of your tyres and uphold the safety of you and your family and friends as well.
